StatPack on the Texas Supreme Court's 2013 Term

SCOTXblog ()

I put together this report from my own case-tracking database, which follows each petition’s progress through the Texas Supreme Court. The report covers the fiscal-year term that ended on August 31, 2013.

Some of the slides show:

  • the voting patterns of the Texas Supreme Court (including the new additions that term, Justice Boyd and Justice Devine);

  • which Justices are aligned with or against the judgment most often;

  • how long cases take to reach a decision after oral argument;

  • and how that time varies with factors such as the authoring Justice, whether there are split opinions, and when during the year the case was argued.
